Hey there, Bangaloreans and visitors to the city! If you’ve been in the city recently, you might have noticed some exciting changes in the social scene. Beyond the usual nightlife and movies, Bangalore is now offering a variety of activities that bring people together in new ways. Let me share some of my favorite finds!
Game Nights with a Twist:
Growing up, I loved those Monopoly marathons at home with friends. Recently, I discovered that Bangalore has taken this idea up a notch. There are places around town hosting game nights with a twist – think trivia challenges, Pictionary duels, mafia nights and more. I went to one of these themed nights at a cozy café in Indiranagar. The atmosphere was lively, with strangers turning into teammates, and the friendly competition made the evening really memorable. If you’re looking to break the ice and make some new friends, these events are a great way to start.
Joining Passionate Communities:
Bangalore has something for everyone. Whether you love books, tech, or art, there’s a club or community out there for you. I recently joined a book club that meets in a small library near Cubbon Park. We gather every other Saturday to discuss a new book, and it’s been refreshing to hear different perspectives. There’s also a tech meetup I attended where I met some inspiring people working on innovative projects. These spaces have been great for finding like-minded people and making genuine connections. If you’re not sure where to start, Oopar.club could be a good place to check out as it helps you connect over different ideas and interests at one place instead of having to join 10 different communities.
Exploring Food Through Events:
If you’re a food lover like me, you’ll love the food-tasting events and cooking classes happening around Bangalore. I recently went to a biryani cooking class in Koramangala, and it was so much fun learning from a local chef and meeting others who are just as passionate about food. Sharing a meal and learning new recipes was a different kind of social experience, one that was both delicious and meaningful.
Local Music and Art:
For those who enjoy live music and art, Bangalore has plenty to offer. I’ve attended a few small, intimate gigs at Koshy’s and a couple of local art exhibitions at Chitrakala Parishath. These events are not just about entertainment; they’re a great way to meet people who share similar interests and appreciate local talent.
Next time you’re thinking about your weekend plans, consider exploring some of these activities. Bangalore has so much more to offer than just the usual nightlife, and there are plenty of opportunities to connect with new people and try something different. Whether it’s joining a club, attending a game night, or exploring local art and food, there’s always something new to experience.
Cheers to new adventures!
